You'll shoot your eye out kid!

Mr. M has been asking for a BB gun for quite some time now. We finally gave Mr. M permission but told him he'd have to earn the money and pay for it himself.

Mr. M has been working hard for over a month now and thought he had enough money. Off he and I went to the local 'Marts' to get a BB gun! It was a little more than Mr. M anticipated. Plus, he needed BB's to go in the gun. I bought the gun and BB's and told Mr. M he could have them when he'd finished paying for them.

The gun has been up in my room. Mr. M has been bringing his friends by to see it. He's been continuing to work hard trying to quickly earn the rest of the money.

Yesterday, as Mr. M was busy at home picking cherries with the rest of The Native's, I found out that his friends were doing a lemonade stand. I about died laughing when I found out why.

They were busy selling kool-aid and water and giving the earnings to Mr. M so he could get his BB gun faster!

I told Mr. M (who my mom calls Tom Sawyer): You sure have some really nice friends!

Tom Sawyer: I know! I just love them to death!

  1. Your Mr. M and my Emily--Tom Sawyer through and through!

I hope he gets his BB gun soon.

And I hope not one shoots an eye out!

  2. The things that make a mom proud!

I wish I would've caught the expression on M's face when he showed up on our doorstop today with gun in hand- it was priceless to say the least.

Rats watchout! Now they're all armed! :)

  3. Good, self reliant, generous kids; that's awesome! :D

Natalie, I see that your kid is there helping his friend. Cool! :D What more could a mom want? ;)

  4. Now, if they'd only advertised via FB or Blogger, I'd have come by to make a purchase...

  5. I am so that "you'll shoot your eye out" mom. I hate those things!!
But I know little boys love them. Boys.
That's hilarious that his friends were donating to his fund. Good friends for sure. Hopefully they can all keep their eyes. :)

  6. I'd dare say that reading this story this evening is much more entertaining than it would have been had I read it yesterday. Can't wait for the sequel.

  7. I didn't know that boys did that--I know they like guns but I didn't know they had kool-aid stands to help their friends buy them. That's actually so sweet.

  8. Sweet, huh? Yeah, well Mr. S from across the street? All he wanted was one of those benighted dart blow-guns that "everybody" had (and believe me, enough of the idiot kids actually did have them). And he was sitting with him fam behind us in church, and I turned around to tease him, and froze and said, "Mr. S, honey - you've got a neat little round hole in the white of that eye!!" Then I turned to his mother. "You see that neat little round hole in the white of his eye?"

And have YOU ever seen stuff hit the fan, right there in church? Because the idiot had LITERALLY SHOT HIS EYE OUT. They only caught in time (thank you, thank you) before he lost all his vitreous humor - because it was actually leaking out down his face.

So, yeah. When G was young, his father got him one of those idiot guns, but made solemnly sure it was treated like the real deal - locked in a safe, taken out only under supervision. But when G came home from college, there were his two certifiably idiot brothers, running around shooting each other with exactly the same guns - but evidently free range.

    I'm against it.

  9. Anaise, Let's hope that having to wear eye protection while using said guns will actually protect, the eyes. Ya gotta love having Calvin and Tom Sawyer's for kids... They keep life interesting.

Natalie, Mighty proud as punch wasn't he! Yes, the rats are truly out numbered now!

Sigh......if only they'd have kept it to the rats..... What are we going to do with this "rat pack"????

Corine, They are good boys. Boys! But good boys. Who tend to get into a bit of mischief from time to time. Their hearts are in the right place.

Uncle Rush, Curses!! Next time! ;)

Ginna, I'm for guns. I'm a gun momma. I believe in teaching kids how to respect and handle them. I'm one of THOSE moms. :D

Kathy, Do I have to write the sequel??? :D Sigh.... And despite our best efforts..... !!!

Lyndee, I don't know about all boys but good boys watch each others back.

Kristen, This is one of those, 'we'll have to agree to disagree and still be friends' moments. :) All of his older boys have and use guns. They've been taught since the day they held a stick and pretended it was a gun to treat it as if it were real. No gun is a toy in this house.

  11. LOL! Oh Chastina! If you only knew the rest of the story...... I'd do a post about it but..... Mr. M is too embarrassed. You'll have to ask Natalie or I later for the 'rest of the story' and why all of the boys are now grounded. :D

  12. Jody, Oh my gosh you are too funny! Why didn't we think of that?? :D Yes, he earned enough. Watch out empty soda cans!!!!

  13. Kristin--is Mr.S, Shem? Hahaha! He has a colaboma in his eye. Rofl! Natalie asked me about this and I had no idea what she was talking about so I had to find this post. The only time Shem has held a real gun (well, at least according to my knowledge) was at scout camp and when my mom showed him their's in hopes of teaching him to respect it (though, I was not terribly thrilled when I found out). Whew! Course, if it's not Shem you are referring to, then it's not nearly as funny.

  14. Lyndee, :D Nope. Not Shem. Another Mr. S and this happened years ago.
