Another year has gone by and once again it is recital time. I made sure and got my camera all set up so I could get fantastic video for all of you only to look at the videos later and THEY ARE BLURRY!!! I swear I have this expensive camera and for what?? So I can have more buttons to foul up. That's what! Oh well, close your eyes and just listen........
Henny Penny was first on the program:
Next Henny Penny and her bestest friend ever played some duets. We can't have a piano recital without a couple of duets from these two.
Mr. M was next.
Here is one of the treats. The Natives piano teacher composes music too! This piece he played for us, he composed and won an award. We're so proud of our piano teacher. This past Friday his piece was played in a big concert hall for many to hear. We are so blessed to have such a gifted teacher.
So, explanation. I realize this was NOT a video taken where the others were. There's a reason. I have video of this Native playing at the recital. It's a video of the poor boy getting half way through is piece and........ nothing......... gone......... he could not for the life of himself remember the rest of the song. It happens, so I made him play for you at home.
Mr. T's second song:
Mr. C, Scarf Kid, was the grand finale.
Mr. C was the grand finale but I've saved this little treat for last. Levi played in the recital this year!!!!! I saved him for last because as you will see, he stole the show!
What follows is what you get when you try to get a whole tribe of Natives to behave themselves for one, just one decent photo. Please? Pretty please? Forget it! You're all grounded!
The End!
That really was awesome, Rachel! Thanks for sharing it with those of us who didn't have the chance to see it in person. The Natives are fantastically talented and Levi was a special treat! :D
ReplyDeleteThe Natives do play amazingly. They have an amazing teacher that can draw out their gifts with music. They are talented but they put in the hours on the piano though too. My piano is only quiet while The Natives are in school. Otherwise, it is piano practicing for hours and hours.
DeleteI have given up. I will never remember what day it is, or was or will be - in the moment. Much less remember to look at a calendar. But rest assured that many dead people will be grateful that I forgot. I know the sorrow of doing everything you can to preserve a beloved memory - only to find out, too late, that the shots did not turn out the way your heart knew they had to. Then again, I watched all these "blurry" things and was not one ounce discommoded. I know what these guys look like, so it's no prob. But beyond that, I would recognize their movement, their physical attitudes and those things could not be blurred. Well done, Mom - my mom gave up on me. You have not given up on these five (and the finale), but have done what you always do - put your loving hand to the plow and break up that ground with fierce and kind determination. You are amazing. And Mike is amazing. His utter love and kindness with Levi leaves me in tears. We are so blessed.
ReplyDeleteMike having Levi be a part of the recital brought me to tears. When Levi stood up and gave that bow, he undid me. Mike is wonderful. I can't say enough good about him and his willingness to share his talents with us in helping The Natives blossom in their talents. Plus he's patient with me. That says a lot right there!!!!
DeleteLevi was in the recital! How wonderful! To be included, to celebrate and be celebrated is SO important. I'm teary too, and I've never even met Levi. I can't even listen to your videos, but still, if you will, I can sense the energy. Because I can read it in your words, your photos, your actions. Bravo, Natives! Bravo, proud, wonderful parents!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love Henny Penny's dress!
Yes! Levi was in the recital! He was so excited and he keeps asking our piano teacher when the next recital is. :D
DeleteHenny Penny's dress came from an awesome second hand store that we have here!

DeleteLove it! These children work hard (especially near the recital), and, as Rachel says, "We don't have a farm, so we play the piano!" I love to see their personalities come out while and after they perform. K's and M's smiles and bows are so very natural and emote their joy in performing! And Levi---I'm so glad I got to help him with that. It has been so fun to see him open up to me and include me in his very special life. He'd say, "Hey, Carson, I'll see you at the recital." Love you all! The Teacher.
ReplyDeleteYou know Levi is going to ask you until next February when the recital is. :) It means the world to me that you are so willing to include him and work with him. As he gets older it is becoming more apparent to me just how much he wants to be like everybody else. We love you too!!!!
DeleteAmy and I so enjoyed watching these together - you are a talented family and you obviously have a wonderful teacher xxx
ReplyDeleteWe do have a wonderful teacher. The Natives are talented but a lot is their teacher too and the hours and hours that they put into practicing. I'm glad you and Amy enjoyed watching together! :) Tell Amy someday we need to have her sing while one of The Natives accompanies her on the piano! Wouldn't that be something!!!
DeleteI love reading the comments of 'The Teacher' of the Talented Natives. We had three pianos in my growing-up home because my mother taught. However, I simply couldn't keep my head above water and carry on the healthy tradition. It's a good thing you're doing, Mom.
ReplyDeleteThree pianos!!!! Oh bless your mother's heart!! There are some days when I wish we had an electric piano with headphones. I love hearing The Natives practice but sometimes...... sometimes...... I just want peace and quiet........
