Toilet Paper Your Garden? Anyone?

I love reading about gardening.  Especially articles and information about gardening in an urban setting.  I live on a tiny chunk of land so I am always looking for ways to make the most out of my space.  I came across a website a few years ago that I just loved.  In fact, it was this website that gave me the idea to put a chicken coop on top of my garden beds which is working wonderfully by the way.

Anyway, when I saw these videos and they involved gardening with toilet paper...... well....... you know me!  Come on!  Sign me up!  Bathroom humor in my garden!!!   I had to try it......

Pretty cool huh?  Sooo, we've been saving toilet paper rolls in grocery bags in all of our bathrooms for several months now and The Native's have been thinking I really am going koo-koo!

Here we are working on our seed tape made out of TOILET PAPER!!  Henny Penny is taking flour paste and making dabs every two inches.  Mr. M and Mr. J are coming behind with carrot seeds to put on the glue spots.

Mr. T is measuring out the toilet paper and then folding it in half for the younger ones.  The SM is getting the potting soil and seeds ready for our toilet paper roll pots.

Doesn't this look like a load of fun?  I know I'm having fun filling this post with all sorts of puns......

The SM getting the empty toilet paper rolls all ready to go.

The SM and Mr. T bantering back and forth on this dirty job.

The SM making sure Mr. T wipes and cleans up his mess.

Our seed tape is laid out and drying so that it doesn't stick together when we roll it up.

Rows and rows of carrot seed tape that we will use to toilet paper our garden.

Have you seen a lovelier use of toilet paper rolls?  I love that all we need to do is just put these suckers in the ground and they will bio-degrade and add nutrients to the soil.

I feel so Fanny Farmerish.

Wads of toilet paper never looked so wonderful.

:D  Do I really have to say anything about this photo???

Who's Your Bunny?

It's been a long time since I've done a SM post.  He doesn't like it when I post about him and gush about how wonderful he is.  He says it embarrasses him.

I don't understand why he would be embarrassed........  I just don't get it............

Bees Knees

I never understood why someone would say something like, "She's the bees knees" and that was a compliment.

For several years now bees have been scarce across the country.

Honey bees that is.  Not those horrid paper wasp things that are becoming more prolific than bunnies.  Hate those things.

Last year I was walking some of the little Native's home from school and heard a sound!  A sound that made me stop and look around.

I realized the sound was coming from above me.  Looking up I was amazed at what I saw.  A tree exploding in blossoms and a sound so loud.  A humming.  A buzzing.  The blossoms were covered in honey bees flitting from blossom to blossom.

I sat and watched mesmerized.  I'd never seen a honey bee at work and so up close and personal.

Several times I went back and watched the bees at work.  So fascinating watching the pollen catch on their legs.  Big yellowness growing bigger on their little legs like a dancers leg warmers!

I took The Native's to see and The SM.  We all watched enjoying seeing these little insects hard at work.
Utah is called The Beehive State.  Industry.  Hard work.

This spring as I sat under my cherry tree I heard a noise.  A noise that is becoming music to my ears.  Music that has been sadly missed for too many years.

The music of the honey bee.  I'm glad our state is called, The Beehive State.  I like what it represents.

I'm still trying to decide if I'd consider it a compliment if I were called or compared to a bees knees.

I think chubby legs look adorable on a bee, much like chubbiness looks adorable on a baby.

But on me, I dunno..... packing extra on my thighs/knees/kankles.......  it just doesn't look as appealing on me as it does on a bee.

But if being called a bees knees was reference to how hard one works...... then I would take that as a right goodly compliment.

And speaking of bees............ guess who ordered himself a beehive and will be setting it up this weekend in our backyard.......  Looking forward to some fresh honey from my honey, The Keeper of the Bees.   I may just have to change his name from The SM (The Scout Master) to The KB.............!

For all who have read, "The Keeper of the Bees" by Gene Stratton Porter......... (if you haven't yet, you should!) you'll appreciate my last play on the characters Scout and the Keeper of the Bees.........

I Love......

Hearing my eldest Native tell others that Levi is his most favorite person in the whole world.

Seeing The Native's play with Levi and not be embarrassed because he is different.

Levi's bunny ears.

Hijacked

Hello folks.  My name is Julie and I'll be taking over this here blog today.  My pet Rachel is too busy sticking her nose in all of my little pups Easter baskets stealing their candy to pay attention to her blog.  Normally I focus on taking care of Levi's needs but lately the big puppy of the family has needed my attention as well.

At then end of the day I just collapse on my rug from having to keep an eye on those two.  I don't know which is the harder pup to keep track of!

I'm not complaining mind you.  I love my pups it's just I"m not getting any younger as my grey whiskers can prove.  Speaking of grey whiskers, I started to go grey early!  Have you ever heard of such a thing!  But when one considers all that I have in my dog dish to deal with every day....... I suppose it is inevitable.

Well, this is short but I don't have time with all of the extra tasks I am having to see to since pup Rachel keeps dropping them left and right like a dozen tennis balls and I'm expected to just run after and chase them all!  Not that I'm complaining.  I'm too loyal for that.

P.S.  Anyone know where I can get my hair done around here?  Just another task my pet Rachel has neglected to do for awhile..........

Baby Knits

My baby sis is about to have a baby!!  I'm so excited for her.  She and her husband have opted to wait until the baby is born to find out if it is a girl or a boy.

I think she should have a girl...........
