That's exactly how I used to read when laying out in the sun on one of those long lounge chair thingys....I would scootch one of the weaving things back with my chin so I could see and hod the book underneath... Probably wasn't nearly as comfortable as this.
Seriously? It looks SOOOOO UNCOMFORTABLE! My lower back just twinges and aches looking at this photo! I used to sit backwards on my horse and lay down and read a book......... that was WAY more comfortable. :D
My chair probably didn't have quite the bend as that one, but now the thought of laying outside in a bathing suit...now that is scary! So you layed up the the horses neck?
On my belly. My head was toward her rump, which was nice and broad for a book :D, my knees down her shoulders and my feet crossed on her neck tangled in her mane. :D It was great until she'd cock a hip. Then my book would slide to the side. I'd have to tap her and make her shift and come square again.
And a quandary it is......... The funny thing is I was sitting on the couch on my belly one day reading, it was the short couch so my back was bowed a bit, and Mr. B commented that it looked uncomfortable!!!
Ummm, it defies any explanation I can think of! Perhaps it's about getting a good flow of blood to the brain to improve concentration, looks hard work anyway!
I spent summers on the back of my horse like that. My horse would aimlessly wander the field grazing and I'd just lay there all content. Well, until she'd try to rest and cock a hip like I said. I'd about slide off with my book!
