Smells of Spring. Cleaning That Is....

The lilacs are in full bloom here.  I love cutting bunches of them and putting them all over my house.  This year is no different except for one thing.  I didn't take into account that all of the painting of doors, baseboards, and moldings would fill my house with such paint fumes that I can't smell the lovely lilacs............

The baseboards and doors have been sorely in need of being repainted.  Many years of being banged into, little dirty hands, and goobers.  After about an hour of crawling on my hands and knees yesterday painting I decided it would be easier to burn down this house and build another............

    1. :) Julie. She's Levi's dog Julie.

Now I know why I have put off this job for so long. It has taken me hours just to do one room and door!! I'm having to put so many coats of paint on my doors because they are so disgusting!!! Cheap fabricated wood things. I hate cheap doors!!

      Next big splurge! New doors!!

  2. Our's too. Julie, Donna - it sounds much the same. Little Julie. I'm not cleaning till I feel better. At this rate, in time for Autumn. But Rachel - G cut back my beloved lilac so severely, it has nothing on it. NOTHING. I can smell them if I bring them up to my face, the tiny ones in the front yard. But my usual great gobs of blossom, I'm afraid they're dead, and it breaks my heart. I HATE it when he does things without even telling me - like this. Lilacs are almost a holy thing to me.

    1. Arrgh! Oh noooo! They'll grow next year. Lilacs are an every other year so the branches that produced flowers this year won't next and so on. I think anyway....... I could have just made that up...... paint fumes getting to my head.........

    2. I think they will grow next year, too. My rhododendron don't bloom big and pretty every year either.

    3. Is it okay that I'm kind of giggling, K? Only cuz my husband does those things too, and he's always so darned proud of himself too. Until he sees my expression.

  4. But look at that fabulous corner! Don't go burning it down.

Lucy/Julie is gorgeous. She must create ear-envy amongst her doggy peers.

I have taken tomorrow off of work. To clean. Some vacation day.

  5. I still have so much to do! The doors take forever and I'm putting two coats of paint on everything. Ugh! I thought I would be moving along faster than this. Oh well. The rooms that are finished look nice and now make it glaringly obvious that my walls also need painting. :D

Your house looks soooo nice! You guys have worked so hard and it shows.

Yeah. I'll probably pay for this but while I am laying on the couch seeing clean baseboards I'll appreciate them all the more.

  7. LOL! He's in Ghana! He's the one that started the whole kitchen counter and sink thing.. I just went and picked out what I wanted. He'll be back just in time for it to be installed...... that's if they let him back in the country of course. :D
