Ingredients for a summer day past time................ Find some wheels from a broken airplane and make roads in the sand.
The gardener looks off in the distance as he hears other children in the neighborhood playing and laughing.
And then goes back to work diligently using his hand much like a bulldozer. Moving sand along to form mountain roads and passes. It helps to have your tongue hanging out in the opposite direction that you are moving your hand. Leverage.
A sand storm........ it covers the unsuspecting cars where they stay buried until the little gardener comes back and unearths them another day........
leverage. I love it. And I can feel the sand against my own hand - wow. What if that were the only worry in the world - that feel of sand against the sweep of a hand.
ReplyDeleteI remember when that was the only worry I had....... like it was yesterday..... and then I blinked..... and as quickly as that sand sifted through Mr. J's hands I have a family and worries of my own.
DeleteSee? Sand when you aren't wet isn't that bad. Great pictures...very Wabi! :D
ReplyDeleteOoooh! If my photos and posts even/ever remotely resembled Wabi's I would/will take that as a HUGE compliment indeed!!!
DeleteI chose this photo op because the day was so hot and hazy and wilty and yet, somehow...... the little ones are able to play in it!
Aw shucks, you're making me blush. But the photos are REALLY very Rachel - which is far better.
ReplyDeleteThat playing stance is one my youngest son is ALWAYS in, also typically involving sand or dirt. He holds that position for looooong stretches. Ah, to be able to hold a squat so effortlessly and without consequence in the getting up portion.
Beautiful photos, Rachel. Beautiful moments. And beautiful child!
I have thought that same thing Wabi! How in the world do they sit there and squat for hours and not have their legs go into a muscle spastic creaking groaning fit when they try to move and stand up?
DeleteI want our young elastic bounce when we fall bodies back. This getting old........ it's for the birds.
