Plug

I've started training again.  I've made the goal to run the full marathon next year.  I have two things right now that I just love and have to do a plug for.

I like to listen to music while I run and in the past, I've tried several different ear buds only to be frustrated because apparently my ears aren't made like everyone else's?  Why do all of the ear buds fall out of my ears as I trounce along?

Not anymore!  I'm not even sure how I found these puppies but I'm thrilled that I did because I've not had any problems since!

Yurbuds.  They look weird.  I'm weird and apparently so are my ears so we get along just dandy great.  They don't fall out of my ears and they are comfortable.  Other ear buds I'd jam into my ears so hard trying to get them to stay my ears would hurt.  Love these!!!  I got mine from Amazon.

My next love is one of these puppies:

It's a hydration belt that doesn't slip while I run and even though I am carrying water on my hips (no comment on what all I'm carrying on my hips please.........) it is not heavy or uncomfortable.  The water bottles you squirt, I don't have to suck the water out which for me is great.  I'm already out of air.  It has several other little nifty things but just having a belt that doesn't slide or move around on my hips is pretty much right up there with chocolate ice cream with chunks of brownie in it covered in hot fudge and..........
This is why I must run.  I crave things that add more than water to my hips.

Before the 1/2 marathon I did a bit ago, my friend Natalie and I found these belts.  I'm ready to get another one.  This one I like for long training runs.  Natalie has one that is for race day or shorter runs that doesn't have water bottles.  You can attach water bottles to it if you want but I like the slimness of it for packing your phone or what have you, maybe some chapstick, some runners goo stuff......

You can find these belts on the iFitness website here.

  1. Running? No. Good ear buds while walking? Yes. Thanks for the review....I'll be on the look out.
Glad your training is making you happy...it's making me tired. Think I'll have some ice cream and think of you! :D

  2. I'm truly inspired that you've come so far in your recovery from those days when you couldn't get off the couch. I hope they are completely in the past. I admire women who run, although I never have been among them.

All ear buds fall out of my ears too! I wear ear phones to avoid the problem. Generally, they work, but I can always go back to your post if I get myself in a situation where ear buds would be nice.

    1. It's not in the past but I'm taking it a day at a time and enjoying what I am able to do! It's been an interesting journey that is for sure. Sometimes I'm patient with it and other times....... not so much!

  3. It's always a delight to find solid products that work. I wonder if my running children would like the ear buds? Though I haven't heard them complain about their current earbuds. Perhaps that suggests that they have standard-shaped ears? I find it very surprising that I ordered them with any standard parts at all, given my proclivity for quirk ;-)

    1. LOL! I so love your comments Wabi! I imagine your children would love these ear buds. My Native's seem to be fine with their ear buds too. Apparently I didn't pass on the weird shaped ears to them?

  4. I have had the same problem with ear buds in my ears. I finally got "skull" ear buds and they are the only ones that stay put no matter what activity I am doing, I love them.

I saw one of those belts on Friday when I was looking for an armband for my smartphone for working out, they looked pretty fancy, maybe later for me.

Good luck with the training and everything that goes with it. You are awesome!

    1. See! I'm not the only one with goofy ears. :)

I've heard the skull ones are good too. Good to hear that the rumors are true.

The belts are nice but like everything else that seems to go with any sport, pricey.

    1. Good for you Misty!!!! That is sooo awesome!!! I'm proud of you!

Get the brand that Nat and I got for hydration belts. They actually stay on your hips and in place and don't ride up and move around like others.

  7. The faucet. I like to use that to hydrate. It takes pausing the treadmill, but I can always jog the five feet into the bathroom. Cheaper than the belt, because hey - I'd have to have a faucet in there anyway, right?

    1. Ugh! The treadmill.......... you mean the DREADmill..... I'd rather run outside.

There are always people's sprinklers you can guzzle from as you run along. :D I'm sure they don't mind.
