Fall Break
The Natives are out of school for Fall Break. The SM has taken off a few days of work so we've headed into the mountains where our playground has changed from the reds and oranges of fall to the yellows.
You should recognize some of the terrain in these photos. It was up the same canyon Kristen and I took you up. Excepting we went way way WAY further up the canyon and out the other side. These falls are on the back side of Mount Timanogos. These are called the Timpanogos Falls. They are at the base of Mt. Timp. It's a small easy hike for little legs with a fun ending. Unless you go past the falls and keep hiking up to the top of Timp which my boys want to do!
Love the pictures! Looks like you've had a great start to your Fall Break. I must admit I'm slightly envious, ours isn't until next week... sigh... but... I - I will survive... lol... And...bonus... I might be spending part of it in the north land... (well... north of the canyon anyway...lol)
Oh! Oh! We went mountain climbing to celebrate fall too. Only it's more of a hill really, and the waterfall is just a trickle. But still, we felt we were at the top of the world. The very yellow world.
You live in a beautiful place. And you document it so well.
Our fall colors this year are just amazing. I've never seen them so vivid like they are. We are wondering if it is because of the drought. The reds, oranges, and lello's :) are just breath taking. I can't get enough!
I think it fitting that one go to the hills and mountains to celebrate fall. A friend of mine and I were commenting on how much we love the smell of fall. And then laughed. Decay. Apparently we love the smell of decay! Fall foliage decay.
Great shots. But Henny so far up - I always wondered how people could kill themselves up the canyon - then I looked at how far up she was and how sheer - and now my hands are sweating. The sumack and maples are my faves, I think. You really did autumn up right this year. And though this last week has been H on wheels for you, it's also been doing autumn. And all that kid energy. I have to put the rest of my autumn up before it's too late - I LOVE the smell of fall. Used to include burning leaves. But nobody does that anymore, which is probably good.
It's times like these when I quietly give thanks that it wasn't our day to be in the papers. My mother instincts wishes to keep all of The Natives' feet planted firmly on the ground but they are all climbers and so I grit my teeth and hope for the best.
I love the smell of fall. Natalie and I were laughing about what fall is..... leaves decaying. We love the smell of decay.
No leaves burning. Sad really..... I do miss that.........
Your camera spots the most amazing things - a wasp nest, clouds behind the mountains, a boy sitting next to the trail, a girl in a red shirt climbing the face of a waterfall cliff. I just knew that Kristen would have something to say about that climb so I looked back for her comment and sure enough, she DID! Hee hee.
I want to be a cool mom like you when I grow up!
ReplyDeleteOh Korrie!!! Funny that we look into each other's windows and think the same.
DeleteAnd is that Proposal Falls that Henny is climbing on? That next to last picture with the clouds???? AWESOME! Hope you had fun....

Delete:D Funny. Until you called them Proposal Falls, I never correlated the name. They are called Bridal Veil Falls........ Fitting!!
DeleteI couldn't remember the name, only that it was where the SM proposed! I like that name better.

Next week I'll be envious of YOU! The Native's will be back in school and I'll be wanting another break.
DeleteIf you're this far north, let us know!
