Angel Kisses

A Good Boy
By Robert Louis Stevenson

I woke up before the morning, I was happy all the day,
I never said an ugly word, but smiled and stuck to play.

And now at last the sun is going down behind the wood,
And I am very happy, for I know that I've been good.

My bed is waiting cool and fresh, with linen smooth and fair,
And I must off to sleepsin-by, and not forget my prayer.

I know that, till to-morrow I shall see the sun arise,
No ugly dream shall fright my mind, no ugly sight my eyes.

But slumber hold me tightly till I waken in the dawn,
And hear the thrushes singing in the lilacs round the lawn.

  1. I love that poem and it could have been written about Levi, no wonder he has so many angel kisses on his sweet face x

    1. The best part of all Julie, is he's learned to give kisses. Well, sort of. Levi kisses. :D

  2. Isn't it all amazing to you? The never give up part, the love Levi just as he is on his way to being who he is to be part? I agree with Julie, the poem is perfect!

    1. It amazes me daily. Someone asked me once how I handled all of his crying for years when he was younger. The Lord blesses and strengthens.

Levi is a monstrous spirit and influence in our home. We all love him and revolve around him. He has helped our family in so many ways..

  6. Another poem, new to me. Once again, greatly enhanced by the Levi shots.

My, he has gorgeous eyelashes and the dearest freckles on the planet!

    1. I have a book with all of Robert Louis Stevenson's poems for children in it with delightful illustrations. I'm not huge into poetry but I like his works.

Several of my children have delicious eyelashes! No fair! They didn't get them from me!

  7. I love that kid...and Angel kisses.
I have 1 who has Angel kisses and sometimes, on our bad days, I have to remind myself that he must be something special if the angels couldn't keep their lips off him! It helps- he's still alive! ;) I will have to take pictures of his "kisses" and put them with this poem just to remind me he is still a little boy.

    1. :) We all have certain things that help us not send our little ones back where they came from. :) Now that my oldest is out of the house and the next soon to follow I am realizing what everyone has been trying to tell me for years. It is going by faster and faster.......
