Rainbows

This evening we had the most amazing rainbow show.   The Heavens opened and rain poured down clearing the air making all of the colors vivid and bright as the sun shone through the showers.  A double rainbow that lasted but a few moments and then it was gone.  I love these gentle kind of reminders.........

  1. WOW. Why didn't you call me? I've caved in and I'm lying on the couch like a lump. But I'd done a few silly things, and run an errand. And now I need to go to bed, but I'm no more willing to sleep now than I was last week. But I'd love to have seen this. What a day for the eyes this has been!! Donna called me. She's safe and and they've started the hour and a half ride home!

    1. There wasn't time! It was the fastest appearing and fastest disappearing rainbow! It was amazing that I even saw it. I was sitting in my front room helping Mr. J get a lesson ready for last night's FHE and happened to look up out the window real quick and saw a glimpse of the one end. Just a tiny piece but I could tell from how vibrant it was that it was something else so I jumped up dumping Mr. J on the floor and ran up to my room so I could see out the back. I yanked out my screen and yelled at Henny Penny to get my camera and then started clicking away. It was over as quick as it began....

It was an incredible day for the eyes wasn't it!?

  2. Beautiful...
I love the gentle promise of a rainbow... the reminder that even amidst the storms of life beauty can still be found. Indeed, it is the storm that makes the beauty possible...

Reminds of a song from a filmstrip (yes... I said filmstrip...beep... lol) I saw more than once years ago.

"I'll build you a rainbow, way up high above. Send down a sunbeam - all plum full of love. Sprinkle down raindrops, teardrops of joy..."

Still, while there is beauty in the storm, I hope that you and your family have a few less "storms" for the next little while.... I think you've earned a break. :-)

    1. That is how I felt Mindy. I looked at Henny Penny marveling at the rainbow and we both thought of a certain somebody who would tell her that rainbows are from leaping unicorns pooping jelly beans. :)

    2. You know - I'm just SURE that was in the first unedited version of that song... how it didn't make it into the final version I don't know... lol... I'm sure that certain someone would have been smiling and snapping pictures as well... (After all, it's rare you can capture unicorn jelly bean poop on film...lol)

I'm glad you were able to capture the fleeting beauty... Perhaps heaven knew you needed just a little extra after the last while. Maybe a certain angel put in a good word for you. :-)

By the way - gorgeous view!! (I think I might be a tad envious of your backyard vista. :-) )

  3. Yowser! Glad I didn't have to fly through that storm but sorry I missed the show! Home and in bed by 215 or so!

    1. Me too!!! Flying is disconcerting enough as it is. No need to add to the anxiety by flying through a storm. I'm so glad you are home and safe but miss you! Wish home were closer...........

  4. I got a glimpse of it's beginning, but missed the real show. Thanks for capturing it. Don't we have the most amazing backyard view!!!

    1. I love our backyard view! I am envious however that you can see it so much better than I in your house. With my kitchen in the front, most of my daily view is of the street. Bleck! Were I to get a redo, I'd change that part of my floor plan.

    1. Yes, awesome indeed. Awesome is perfect in this sense because it truly was so awe inspiring.

  6. What was amazing to me was how fast it changed and then left! Even as I took photos the lighting changed and the colors.

  9. Oh! Sigh.

We had a rainbow like that this summer when we were haying. I took photos, but none turned out as beautifully as yours. But it wasn't about the photograph at all. Such an enveloping peace and wonder.

    1. It was a magical moment. We sat at the window gasping and in awe and couldn't leave until it had disappeared.

  10. What sweet shots! Nothing makes my heart sing quite like a rainbow and it's like the Hallelujah Chorus when there's DOUBLE rainbow such as the one you captured.

    1. The MoTab should have been standing under it singing. :) It would have seemed natural.
