Donna, pretty much our whole state looks like this, and they can't close the whole thing. Fortunately, most of our local canyons have escaped the burning. I don't want to say that too loud because idiots roam them and start fires in the stupidest ways. Deer don't usually target shoot, so those other fires, we can assume, were started by idiots similar to ours, but unluckier. Once, when we were riding up in the canyon, we could see the smoke rising heavily just on the other side of one of the hills -
Very lovely. The bluebells are my favorite wildflower. So delicate. That's about the sweetest photo of them EVER.
You've done something right, Rachel, because your whole whooping family are willing to get outside and take a hike together. Wish I'd had your secret, because my kids weren't exactly thrilled by my regular yearnings for us to go on a family hike.
I don't think it was a hike, actually. Because you look like you're strolling. Strolling through nature. I don't think it counts as a hike unless you have sticks and wear short pants held up by suspenders, maybe. And probaly a hat with a feather. For each person. And you have to bend over more. Maybe carry a pack with a large, loosely rolled sleeping bag at the top of it, and take a canteen. Don't you think? And Ginger is right - all those people in their teens obviously enjoying the parental company. Pretty cool.
You folks have got to have THE BEST scenery to hike, stroll, and cartwheel through. Seriously, it is breathtaking. I don't think I could ever put the camera down. Okay, so I already don't ever put the camera down - but still, this is gorgeous!
No. Where I grew up has the best scenery but this is close. :D Sadly, this area where we hiked is now pretty close to if not now up in flames........ :(
Beautiful! But, is this the place that is closed due to fires now?

DeleteWe are a wood filled state, too, but rarely have fires like those out west....glad you and your woods are safe!
