What is this little native so intrigued with that the immediate need is postponed with crossed legs and a "holding pattern"?

Tomorrow I'll post photos of all we've been doing as a family for spring break. We are mighty, large in number, and refuse to be daunted by the element that has covered the land in white.
That picture at the front lace window would have been pretty darn romantic, if you hadn't brought up the crossed legs.
