Motherhood

Always cramming more into a day then can possibly fit....

Always waiting until the smoke clears and all the alarms finally turn off.....

Always giving comfort to the little ones who feel left out in the cold.....

Always putting out fires...........knowing that even when the fire is put out...everything will still smell like smoke for days.....because in the midst of storms (winter) you can only keep your windows open for so long.

  1. Jody, I am sooo like your hubby in regards to the wood stove. I am always freezing so I'm cranking that thing up so much so, that everyone down the street turns off their heat, mine is radiating so much!

As for motherhood...nuh uh! I don't buy it for a second. I see you with your nieces and you are fabulous!

  2. Jody, It sounds like your hubby is a sneaky genious, getting you to "take layers of clothes off", and causing "sweat running down all major body parts".
Rachel, throw in as many logs as you like. ;)

  3. Your blog today is very poetic. I like it. Of course, I like them all (except the ones that talk about me).

  4. I like it. It's so true. And I like the entries about Brian, don't listen to him. :)
I love the header picture. It's so cute. And I love seeing all your quilts hanging. So pretty!!

  5. Smelling like smoke. Life is like that, huh. SOmetimes it's just a matter of exploding into p-mode for good reason, but the reason ages, fades and other things come along demanding focus and investment. Still, the smoke remains in the mind, a constant, underlying tug. Keep your windows open long enough, though - and it will all dissipate in time -

  6. Oh, and Brian, I just read your comment - BRIAN!!!!! MY GOSH!!!!

  8. Honestly, I don't know which was better, the post or the comments! Brian, I'm blushing...
I love wood burning stoves, but figured for the safety of my home and family gas was the better choice when we finished our familyroom. I have 3 firebugs who would have me in the looney bin wanting to start or "add more wood to the fire" (aka- play in the fire). I swear my oldest has tendencies toward a pyro, so gas really was my only choice.

Glad to see your house still standing. Just pretend your camping until the smoke smells disappears.

  9. Seemed like an appropriate place...gorgeous quilts in that very cute photo--did you make?

And we have a wood stove that I loved because it made our wood floors so nice and toasty warm, but we finally had to stop using it because I'm sort of allergic to trees and it was killing my allergies. Sux to be me sometimes.

  10. I'm laughing at Brian's comment. That is the only reason my hubby would allow it to get hot in our home. He prefers it cool and claims it's easier to warm up than cool off. Something about you can always put on more clothes but can only take off so many.

I'm glad that you only have the smell of smoke to worry about.

  11. Gin, Thank you. I thought the header quite funny.

BRIAN!!!!!! Oh my gosh I am laughing my head off. You are TERRIBLE!

Jody, LOL! I do not even know what to say......this whole conversation is hysterical. I showed Brian your text. What a hoot! And that is all I'm gonna say on THAT subject!

    Kristen, It eventually dissipates....thank goodness!

Shocking what comes out of ol' Mr. Innocence mouth isn't it?

Mr. Z, Not when it is setting off alarms all over the place! :)

Natalie, Exactly! I smelled like I'd been camping all day. I changed my clothes but my hair still stunk to high heck like smoke.

I've pyro boys here too. We manage....if their mom isn't burning down the place first.

    Blushing. Yeah! Me too!

Lori, Yes, I did make the quilts. Thank you! Oh man that totally sucks big time to be allergic to trees. I love my wood stove. There really is not anything quite like the warmth of a wood stove. Wood heat..mmmmm...up there with hot cocoa.

Chastina, During the summer I feel the same as your hubby but during the winter.....I don't like being cold which is probably why Brian made the comment that he did......I like my flannel jammies. :D Layers baby! Lots of layers.

  12. I love this post. Motherhood does require putting out a few fires, doesn't it? But sometimes it's nice to enjoy the warmth that the fires create.

  13. Gerb, So true. A fire can be wonderful if it is contained and controlled.
